ISRI was formed to represent and serve the interests of the scrap and electronics recycling industry as a key element in the development of an effective and efficient infrastructure for managing the life cycle of electronics products. One area, in particular, that is important to the future of the industry, is the support and promotion of high standards of environmental quality and regulatory compliance as well as high quality business practices – an IAER priority.
The National Association for Information Destruction
NAID® is the international trade association for companies providing information destruction services. Suppliers of products, equipment and services to destruction companies are also eligible for membership NAID’s mission is to promote the information destruction industry and the standards and ethics of its member companies.
ISO 14001 / ISO 9001 Registration
Luminous Electronics Recycling is in process of ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 registrations. The ISO standardized registration is an internationally recognized independent and rigorous audit certification which evaluates a company’s environmental management system and commitment to continual improvement in environmental performance.
The Luminous Electronics Recycling Pledge for Recycling Electronics and Related Equipment
Luminous Electronics Recycling Inc. (LERI) is committed to our customers and the general public, and affirms that we will handle all material received in a professional, safe and environmentally correct way. To this, we make the following pledge:
• LERI will not allow any material from electronic equipment to be sent to solid waste landfills or incinerators for disposal, either directly or through intermediaries.
• LERI will support environmental and toxics use reduction programs and / or legislation for electronic products.
• LERI will employ due diligence and effort to ensure our recycling system, including downstream vendors and recovery operations, meet all applicable environmental and safety regulations.
• Every effort will be made to utilize facilities which provide the most efficient environmental and economical services available globally.
• LERI will provide a tracking mechanism to show the final destination of material through the recycling process.
• LERI will recycle electronics utilizing disassembly and shredding technologies for all items deemed unusable using in-house processes and downstream vendors.
• LERI will not utilize prison labor for recycling, either directly or through downstream vendors.
• LERI will demanufacture all CRT containing devices including separation of leaded and unleaded glass, which will be sent to glass reuse and lead recovery facilities.
• LERI will maintain a comprehensive environmental management system which reflects our current environmental health, safety, and quality procedures.
